Moonlit Whisper (A poem)

Moonlit Whisper
by Sue Nolan

By the light of the full moon
In the serenity of the night
Crisp thin air without a breath
Illuminated by sound and sight

A whisper can be heard
From far across the way
Past houses and fences
And trees that do not sway

Leaves glisten with dew
Twinkling like fairy lights
Dotted wherever the eye looks
On this brightly lit night

Clouds, thin as railway tracks
Streak in front of the moon
Silhouetted beautifully
And disappear too soon

A pale yellow mask
Adorns the moon’s face
Softening the beams
Changing this ambient space

Time for sleep, the moon whispers
Rising high in the sky
So I bid it farewell
With a goodbye, and soft sigh.

Landscape in soft hues with full moon
